Description:
January 2017 Live Video of Gatti & Concertgebouw Orchestra's "The Rite of Spring" in Auro-3D with overwhelming sound.Daniele Gatti began in earnest as the seventh principal conductor of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in the 2016/17 season. Following the release of "Berlioz: Symphonie fantastique" and "Mahler: Symphony No. 2," Gatti is now releasing a video of a concert held in January 2017. The program includes the exciting Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring" and Debussy's "Prelude to the Pastoral Afternoon" and "The Sea," both of which had a major impact on 20th century musical language. Gatti has recorded the same program with the Orchestre National de France, both to great acclaim. Debussy's "Sea," which beautifully articulates the ever-changing expression of the sea, is an important piece that has been performed by a succession of RCO conductors, including Baynum in the 1950s, Haitink in the 1970s, and Jansons in 2007. Gatti's meticulous conducting and the RCO's expressive ability to vividly depict the colors of the music are breathtaking. Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring" was performed with vivid contrasts. The RCO archives record 118 performances of the RCO's Rite of Spring since 1924. The RCO's principal conductor has performed the RCO's "Rite of Spring" every year since 1926. Now, Gatti's memorable performance is etched in the history of the RCO. The performance was aggressive and dense, foreshadowing a bright future for the duo, as this was their respective specialty repertoire. King International
