Description:
The complete collection of violin sonatas begins with Op. 8, published in Paris around 1789. It belongs to the genre known as "piano sonata with accompaniment," in which the musical essence is keyboard instruments, with obbligato instruments (violin, flute, etc.) added as needed. This arrangement stems from the culture of the 18th and early 19th centuries, when well-bred women became excellent pianists and either enjoyed themselves or, if they had an accompanist, were able to play along. So far, this collection of Dusek's violin sonatas follows the piano sonata collections that have been released steadily. High contrasts and dynamic expression are hallmarks of Dusek's music.
